Parent Account Information

- Authentication data if you sign in with Apple or Google
Child Profile Information
- Child's first name (used to personalize the learning experience)
- Child's age or grade level (used to provide age-appropriate content)
Learning Data
- Progress across subjects (reading, math, geography, history, etc.)
- Quiz and activity scores
- Streaks, experience points, and achievement data
- Time spent on learning activities
Voice Recordings
- Audio recordings made during reading practice activities
- These recordings are used solely to evaluate reading accuracy and provide feedback
- Recordings are processed and are not shared with any third parties
Information We Do NOT Collect
- Precise geolocation
- Photos or videos from the device camera
- Contacts or address book data
- Advertising identifiers
- Browsing history outside our app
3. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes only:
- Providing the service: Personalizing learning content, tracking progress, and saving achievements
- Account management: Authenticating users and maintaining parent accounts
- Reading practice: Processing voice recordings to give reading feedback
- Improving the app: Understanding which features are used to make the learning experience better
- Communication: Sending important account-related notices to parents (we do not send marketing emails to children)
4. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
We take children's privacy seriously and comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
- Child profiles are created and managed by a parent or guardian through their parent account.
- We obtain verifiable parental consent before collecting any personal information from children under 13.
- We collect only the minimum information necessary to provide our educational services.
- We do not condition a child's participation on providing more information than is reasonably necessary.
- Children cannot make their information publicly available through our app.
- We do not serve behavioral advertising to children.
- We do not allow children to contact other users or share personal information within the app.
5. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell, rent, or trade any personal information. We do not share children's data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
We use the following service providers strictly to operate our app:
- Supabase: Secure authentication and data storage
- Apple / Google: Optional sign-in authentication (when a parent chooses these methods)
These providers only process data as necessary to provide their services to us and are bound by their own privacy commitments.
6. Advertising and Tracking
Curious Quest does not contain any advertising. We do not use third-party analytics or tracking tools. We do not use cookies for advertising or tracking purposes.
7. Data Storage and Security
We store data using Supabase, which provides enterprise-grade security including encryption in transit and at rest. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
While no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect all data, with particular care given to children's information.
8. Data Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to provide our services or as required by law. When a parent deletes their account or requests deletion of their child's data, we will delete the associated personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
9. Parental Rights
Parents and guardians have the right to:
- Review the personal information we have collected from their child
- Request deletion of their child's personal information
- Refuse further collection of their child's personal information
- Update or correct their child's information
